Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice could be suspended four to six games by the NFL for allegedly assaulting his then-fiance in February -- who he has since married -- at a hotel in New Jersey's casino town of Atlantic City, according to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.

Rice, 27, was indicted by a grand jury a month after the incident in which police said video showed him knocking the woman, Janay Palmer, unconscious at the Revel Casino and Hotel. She was then dragged out of the elevator, according to the report, and both parties were charged in the altercation. Rice could have the assault charge dropped if he completes a pretrial intervention program he was accepted to in May, according to the report.

In late May, Ravens team president Dick Cass said in a Baltimore Sun report that Rice will likely meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in the near future to discuss the suspension. The Ravens are bracing for a multi-game ban, the Sun reported.

In his six NFL seasons, the three-time Pro Bowler has 6,180 rushing yards and 37 rushing touchdowns. The former Rutgers standout also has 3,034 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns as a pro, but battled a hip injury for part of last year, finishing with only 981 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns.
