New Mexico-born Castillo moving to Club América

New Mexico-born defender Edgar Castillo is moving from Santos Laguna to Mexican super-club América.

It had been rumored for several days that Castillo was on the radar of the Águilas. Upon his arrival to Torreón, he confirmed those rumors himself.

"They're an important club, just like Santos Laguna, but it has its name," Castillo stated. "Now it's my turn to go to América and we'll see each other here in the first week of the torneo Clausura 2009."

The arrival of "El Homie" to the Águilas could make it possible for a player swap with midfielder Juan Carlos Medina, a player whom Santos coach Daniel Guzmán knows well and who is a native of Torreón.

However, Guzmán considered the topic of reinforcements too premature to talk about. "This Wednesday I will deal only with the sports aspect and on Thursday I will have clear and specific news on what is coming for 2009," he said.

The only official news for the Guerreros of Santos Laguna is that they must report back on Dec. 28 to start their preseason work for the Torneo Clausura 2009.
