Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been ruled out the club's Premier League fixture away at Hull City on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder is still struggling with an adductor injury which he picked up during the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Chelsea on April 8.

The good news for the Reds is that the England international should return to action in time for the home game against Newcastle United on May 3.

"He is not fit and won't be available. I think he will be available next week because he's improving, but this game is too soon," manager Rafa Benitez told the club's official website.

"The rest of the team is available - we have a full squad."
