Florentino Perez has revealed that it is just a matter of time before Real Madrid signs David Villa and that he believes the striker would fit in well at the Bernabeu.

The Spanish forward has been widely reported to be interested in a move to Madrid and after declaring yesterday that he has made a decision regarding his future, the capital seems the likely destination.

Real Madrid president Perez confirmed the rumors Thursday afternoon by explaining the situation that the two parties are involved in.

"He is an excellent player that we must fit into our project," he told Spanish daily Marca. "[Valencia president] Manuel Llorente has to do what he has to do, as do I. The signing is just a matter of time.

"Everything is being done in a friendly and cooperative way, and we have good relations with Valencia...It is not a movie with a good and a bad side. It is a case of rival and historic clubs who are going to fight for the league title."

Despite his optimism though, Perez did admit that "the whole summer is still to come and that is to explain the signing very well to both sets of fans."

The president also spoke more about relations between the two clubs, saying that "I do not know if historically there was a problem. With me there wasn't and of course now, there won't be."
