Oguchi Onyewu may well still be on his way to Fenerbahce, but the deal isn't done yet, says his agent.

News broke early Monday that the American international defender had signed for the Turkish club. Those claims appear to be premature, although talks are ongoing.

Onyewu is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract with Standard Liege. The 6-foot-5 defender has also talked to Birmingham City, and Monaco is said to still be interested.

Those clubs still have a chance, as Onyewu's agent, Lyle Yorks, revealed to Goal.com that no Fenerbahce deal has been struck yet.

"There is interest but no deal has been agreed," Yorks said via e-mail.

The imposing defender is currently with the U.S. national team in South Africa, where the Americans have progressed to the semifinals of the Confederations Cup.

Onyewu is likely to lineup in the heart of defense when the U.S. takes on Spain on Wednesday.
