SuperLiga has finally started in the U.S. as four American teams face four teams from Mexico. For some of the Mexican teams this tournament serves as a warm-up for the upcoming Apertura season. For other teams though it's a chance for their youth to display their skills and hopefully show enough to be included in the starting squad.

Atlas is one of the teams who are displaying their upcoming players for the tournament.

Their opener was against the Kansas City Wizards where they tied 0-0. Despite the tie Gonzalo Vargas, forward for Atlas, said he liked the work that was done by his teammates in the North American tournament.

"I thought it was a very good first half. I think for the second half the heat affected them that's why the game slowed. I especially liked how they were pressuring; I did think that the first half was better. The first game of this preparation serves as a stepping stone for the rest of the tournament," said "El Turbo" to Mural.

Vargas did not make the trip to the U.S. but he followed the team closely and said that he is happy with how the team is looking in the tournament.

"I think it was an entertaining game and I also think the conditions made it very hard to play. We have to take in account that the players who were out there have a lot of ambition to be playing just like us here. We all want to help the team and we will work hard for that," admitted Vargas.

The Uruguayan international said that he believes the team will slowly regain their rhythm and ultimately have a bright tournament.

"The team does have a scheme but with every match that passes they will start to find their game, and will be physically better. I think it was a great game and I also think that the next one will be even better," he declared.
