Davies close to move to Sochaux of France

Charlie Davies could be the first to reap the benefits of an excellent Confederations Cup run with the U.S. national team. The 23-year-old is in discussions with French club Sochaux.

"Yes, Sochaux is interested in signing Charlie Davies," confirmed Davies' agent, Lyle Yorks. "Discussions are in the final stages."

Yorks also mentioned that other clubs continue to show interest in the player.

Currently with Hammarby IF in Sweden, Davies has seen his stock rise tremendously after a series of blistering performances in the Confederations Cup. The striker scored a goal to help the U.S. beat Egypt 3-0 and then added an assist in the final against Brazil.

Davies is currently with the U.S. team participating in the Gold Cup. In the first game, he scored the last goal to seal a 4-0 drubbing of Grenada.
