Manchester City's negotiations with Arsenal and the player's representatives over a potential move for Emmanuel Adebayor from north London to Eastlands are now at an advanced stage, according to Sky Sports News.

The Citizens reportedly are about to offer the striker a lucrative and lengthy contract, should he decide to switch, in a deal now worth $35.7 million.

City is ready to offer the player a five-year contract, according to Sky's sources, with the accompanying personal terms also extremely appealing.

Adebayor can expect to earn something in the region of $276,000 a week at City, an amount that is apparently double what he currently earns at Arsenal.

Neither City nor the Gunners have yet made public comment on the potential transfer, but this report suggests that the Mancunians' move for the player has reached a fairly advanced stage, with the club now preferring to move deals along quickly after the convoluted saga involving Barcelona forward Samuel Eto'o, which it officially ended on Friday.
