Livorno's move for Landon Donovan will have to wait, according to club president Aldo Spinelli.

The newly promoted club has been linked with the U.S. star over the last few days, but now the deal seems to be on hold until next season, with Spinelli saying that certain sponsors don't want Donovan to leave America just yet.

"I think at this point it will happen only for next season," Spinelli told Tuttomercatoweb.com. "It seems the sponsors Nike and Gatorade do not want the player to leave America right now."

Spinelli did not mention anything on the status of the club's bid for U.S. midfielder Ricardo Clark, whom agent Richard Motzkin said also was attracting interests from the new Serie A side. --Goal.com
