The Colorado Rapids and D.C. United each added one player Friday with the former signing Argentine striker Facundo Diz and the latter inking Premier Development League midfielder Ely Allen.

Diz is a 30-year-old veteran of several teams who should add some depth to the Colorado front line. Most recently the striker was with Club Atletico Platense in Argentina.

"Facundo adds the depth to our forward line that we have been looking for a long time," said head coach Gary Smith in a press release. "He's a good physical specimen, good target man, attacks the ball extremely well inside the penalty area, and from where he's come from he has a wealth of experience. As a personality, he has already shown what a wonderful addition he will be."

D.C. was also looking to add depth with the singing of Allen, a 23-year-old who spent time with the L.A. Galaxy last season. Allen is taking the roster spot that opened up through the injury to Brandon Barklage and will not join United until next week.

"Ely is an intelligent player who will provide solid cover for us at the forward and midfield positions," said General Manager Dave Kasper. "Brandon was enjoying a great start to his career and we expect great things from him in the future. His injury was an unfortunate event, but we look forward to a full recovery and seeing Brandon ready for preseason next year." --Goal.com
