FC Dallas, which sits in second-to-last in the West with a 6-10-5 record, has aqcuired Honduran attacker Marvin Chavez, whose nickname is "El hijo del viento" (the son of the wind).

Chavez arrives on loan from Club Deportivo Marathon, for which he scored 11 goals and tallied 11 assists in the 2008-09 season. He scored Marathon's game-winner against D.C. United to send his team into the quarterfinals for the 2008-09 CONCACAF Champions League.

"Marvin Chávez is a player who adds depth to our attacking options, and I think he'll be a good fit for our system," said FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman. "He's a very athletic and versatile player that can play in both the forward and attacking midfield position."

The 25-year-old Honduran national team player joined Marathon in 2008 from hometown team Club Deportivo Victoria, for which he recorded 23 goals and 17 assists. He has 18 caps for Honduras and played in World Cup qualifying and the 2009 Gold Cup. --Soccer America
