National Soccer Hall of Fame to close

After 30 years in existence, the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta, N.Y., is closing down.

The facility isn't closing for good, but is closing to the public, says president and chief operating officer Jonathan Ullman.

Also announced was a strategic reorganizing of the Hall which would see it only open on match-days and would significantly trim the eight-person staff down to only two.

"We have some wonderful people that have worked extremely hard and have been dedicated to this organization," said Ullman of the Hall's current employees.

Discussions will be held whether the Hall should stay in Oneonta or whether the location should be moved to help with the new operating model.

Average attendance for the hall has been about 17,000 patrons a year.
