NEC ends 33-year drought with win at AZ

AMSTERDAM (AP) -- NEC Nijmegen won 1-0 at AZ Alkmaar for the first time in 33 years on midfielder Lorenzo Davids' late goal in the Eredivisie on Saturday.

Because of Davids' 87th-minute score, defending champion AZ remained in fifth place in the Dutch league standings on 12 points.

PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord and FC Twente jointly lead with 14 points ahead of round-seven matches on Sunday. Ajax has 13.

Also on Saturday, Denmark forward Mads Junker scored twice inside three minutes to take his season tally to four and help Roda JC beat NAC Breda 2-0.

Lasse Nilsson, Santi Kolk and Paul Verhaegh each scored for Vitesse Arnhem in a 3-1 victory over RKC Waalwijk.

Fouad Idabdelhay curled the ball past the outstretched hands of Vitesse goalkeeper Piet Velthuizen in the 24th after Gijs Luirink had missed a penalty for RKC, which has yet to pick up its first point.

Darl Douglas scored in the 64th to cancel Dele Adeleye's goal as Heracles Almelo drew 1-1 against Sparta Rotterdam.

Emmanuel Boakye was dismissed in the 75th for his second yellow card.

On Sunday, unbeaten VVV-Venlo takes on Ajax while Feyenoord hosts PSV Eindhoven. Also, it's: ADO The Hague vs. FC Utrecht and SC Heerenveen vs. FC Twente.
