FC Dallas will not renew the contract of general manager Michael Hitchcock and will not fill his position, the club announced Tuesday.

Instead, FCD will hire a technical director to assist head coach Schellas Hyndman in day-to-day soccer operations. Hunt Sports Group president John Wagner will continue to oversee the business side of the organization.

The club amassed a 48-47-27 regular-season record during Hitchcock's tenure and reached the playoffs twice, finishing 2-2-0 in postseason play.

FCD was 13th in the league in average attendance at 12,441. That was boosted by a crowd of 51,012 for a doubleheader with a Mexico international match at the Cotton Bowl in September.

Attendance for the 14 games at Pizza Hut Park averaged only 9,678.

"We appreciate Michael's efforts on behalf of FC Dallas and Pizza Hut Park over the last four seasons," Hunt Sports Group chairman Clark Hunt said in a statement. "Michael was an outstanding ambassador for FC Dallas during his time with the club, and we certainly wish him the best in the future."
