U.S. hopeful Jones returns to Schalke training

It is unclear when he'll be able to play in matches again, but German-American midfielder Jermaine Jones is back training with his club team Schalke, reports the Web site of German magazine Bild.

Injured since the preseason, Jones has apparently recovered from the fracture in his shin and is ready to take the field for the German club.

Jones, 28, recently declared his intention to play his international football for the United States following limited opportunities with the German national team.

Born in Frankfurt, Jones is the son of an African-American father and a German mother, allowing him to switch his allegiance to the U.S.

A veteran of the Bundesliga, Jones has played for Bayer Leverkusen, Eintract Frankfurt and Schalke.
