U.S. forward Kenny Cooper breaks ankle in training

MUNICH, Germany (AP) -- U.S. striker Kenny Cooper has broken his ankle during training with the German club 1860 Munich. This was his first practice since returning from a loan with Plymouth Argyle in England's second division.

The team said on its Web site Friday that the 25-year-old player had surgery and it is hoped he can play in about three months. Cooper said he was hurt in a collision with a teammate.

Cooper moved to Munich from Dallas a year ago but was loaned to Plymouth last winter. He returned to Munich on July 1.
