SAO PAULO (AP) -- The president of the Brazilian football federation says he has selected the next Brazil coach and the announcement will be made on Thursday.

Jose Maria Marin did not give any hints about the person who will replace Mano Menezes after he was fired last week, but there are widespread reports that Luiz Felipe Scolari, who led Brazil to the 2002 World Cup title, will take over the national team.

Marin also says a new national team coordinator will be announced, replacing director Andres Sanchez, who publicly said he was against Menezes' dismissal. Carlos Alberto Parreira, the coach when Brazil won the 1994 World Cup, was touted for that job.

Brazil will host the 2014 World Cup with a team led by young promising stars such as Neymar, Oscar and Lucas.
