Premier League club Wigan has signed Honduras midielder Roger Espinoza from Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City.

The 26-year-old Espinoza will debut in Saturday's FA Cup match against Bournemouth after agreeing a 2 1/2-year deal.

He says "it's taken a while to get all the paper work done, but now I can concentrate on fighting for my place and helping the team.''

Espinoza became a U.S. citizen in 2008 but opted to play for Honduras at the London Olympics.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez says "the Olympics in the summer gave a great example of just what he can do on the pitch, especially in his performances against Spain and Brazil.''
