Javier Gandolfi scored Club Tijuana's only goal in their 1-0 win over Corinthians. Americans Joe Corona and Sam Garza also played in the match.

Club Tijuana's run of success in international competition continues on. The Xolos defeated Brazilian side Corinthians 1-0 in a Copa Libertadores group stage game Wednesday night in front of a raucous crowd at Estadio Caliente. The game's solitary strike came courtesy of Argentinian defender and team captain Javier Gandolfi in the 66th minute.

American midfielder Joe Corona started and played the full match in central midfield, while defender and fellow American Greg Garza came on as a substitute in the 85th minute. Corinthians fielded a strong lineup for the group stage tie, including former AC Milan forward Alexandre Pato, but it wasn't enough to prevent their first loss in the competition this season.

The winning goal came from a set piece, as Tijuana's Pablo Cesar Aguilar managed a glancing header off a free kick from the left wing. Aguilar's flick landed at the feet of Gandolfi, who tapped the ball into the back of the net with a nifty bit of footwork.

The victory means Tijuana will remain at the top of their group with nine points from three games, while Corinthians stay second with four points.
