Manchester City will play two pre-season friendlies in South Africa in July, with the second coming on Nelson Mandela's 95th birthday.

City says it will play two top-flight South African clubs on July 14 and July 18, which is Mandela's birthday.

The 2012 Premier League champions did not name the two clubs or the venues but said the second match would be connected with Mandela Day, a date connected to Mandela's charities.

The club says "we are very excited to bring Manchester City closer to the South African community and our rapidly growing global fan base.''

Liverpool said this week it will visit South Africa later this month.
