French international Yoann Gourcuff helped Lyon to third in Ligue 1 last season.

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) -- Seven-time French champion Lyon will play the New York Red Bulls in an exhibition on July 16 at Red Bull Arena.

The MLS team announced the game Friday. Two current Red Bulls have played for the French team - Juninho and Peguy Luyindula.

Lyon finished third in Ligue 1, earning a berth in the third qualifying round of next season's Champions League. The French club won a record seven straight league titles from 2001-08.

The Red Bulls have never faced Lyon, which beat Montpellier on penalty kicks at Red Bull Arena last July in the Trophee Des Champions after winning the French Cup.
