Raul Madrid has found first team appearances increasingly hard to come by at Real Madrid.

MADRID (AP) -- Napoli has signed Spain defender Raul Albiol from Real Madrid.

Madrid says on its website Sunday that Albiol has been sold to the Italian club.

Napoli had already secured the transfer of Madrid forward Jose Callejon for its new Spanish coach Rafa Benitez during the current offseason.

Albiol has been a part of world and European champion Spain's national team since 2007. He joined Madrid in 2009 from Valencia.

Albiol was used mainly a substitute for both Madrid and Spain.
