Sporting Kansas City wins on late Graham Zusi strike

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) -- Graham Zusi scored in the 88th minute to lift Sporting Kansas City to a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night and into a three-way tie for first place in the Eastern Conference.

Benny Feilhaber also scored for Sporting (12-9-6), which broke a two-match shutout loss streak and pulled even with Montreal and New York atop the East.

Feilhaber scored from 30 yards in the 33rd minute to put Kansas City up 1-0. His right-footed shot curled inside the left post, breaking Sporting's goalless streak at 213 minutes.

Edson Buddle tied it in the 77th for the Rapids (10-8-9), who snapped a nine-match unbeaten streak.

RED BULLS 2, D.C. UNITED 1

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) -- Lloyd Sam and Tim Cahill scored to lead New York past last-place D.C. United.

The Red Bulls (12-9-6) moved into a tie with Montreal and Sporting Kansas City for first place in the Eastern Conference. New York won despite playing without star forward Thierry Henry for the first 57 minutes as punishment for his blow-up at practice with head coach Mike Petke.

Bradley Wright-Phillips made his first MLS start in Thierry's place.

Nick DeLeon got his first goal of the season for United (3-18-5), tying the score in the 36th minute.

Cahill got the tiebreaker a minute later.

IMPACT 0, UNION 0

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - Troy Perkins made four saves to help Montreal play to a scoreless draw with Philadelphia.

Zac MacMath needed to make only one save to pick up his 10th shutout of the season for the Union (10-8-9), who improved to 4-0-4 this season following losses.

The Impact (12-7-6) are unbeaten in their last three games and remain in first place in the MLS Eastern Conference.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Eddie Johnson scored in the 14th minute to lift Seattle to a windespite playing down a man for 83 minutes.

Johnson gave Seattle (12-8-4) the lead on a header off a 35-yard free kick by Mauro Rosales for his seventh goal. Morales lofted a service to Johnson between two defenders in the middle of the box in a match delayed 94 minutes at the start because of inclement weather.

Seattle's Leonardo Gonzales was sent off in the 7th minute when, as the last defender, he pulled down Ryan Finley 40 yards from goal.

The Crew (8-13-5) had a header by Konrad Warzycha hit the crossbar in the 79th minute and moments later Seattle's Michael Gspurning made a stretching stop of a Dominic Oduro breakaway.

GALAXY 3, EARTHQUAKES 0

CARSON, Calif. (AP) -- Robbie Keane scored twice goals and set up Landon Donovan's 132nd MLS goal as the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the San Jose Earthquakes 3-0 on Saturday night.

Keane, who has 12 goals this season, sent Donovan streaking alone into San Jose's box to give Los Angeles a lead in the 26th minute. Keane then converted a penalty kick in the 43rd and scored on a volley in the 67th.

Donovan, playing his final game with the Galaxy before joining the U.S. national team for two World Cup qualifiers, scored his eighth goal of the campaign and moved within two goals of MLS career leader Jeff Cunningham's total and one behind Jaime Moreno's.

The Galaxy (13-9-4) strengthened their hold on second place in the Western Conference, five points behind Real Salt Lake. San Jose (9-10-7) is in eighth, five points out of a playoff berth.
