Chelsea takes hold of second spot; Man U, Spurs fight to draw

Demba Ba was a scoring substitute as Chelsea moved into second with a win over Southampton.

LONDON (AP) - Chelsea recovered from conceding a goal after only 13 seconds to go second in the Premier League with a 3-1 win over Southampton while defending champion Manchester United and Liverpool lost ground in the title race on Sunday.

John Terry scored on his 400th Premier League appearance after Gary Cahill canceled Southampton's opener from Jay Rodriguez at Stamford Bridge. Substitute Demba Ba made it 3-0 in the 90th

Chelsea trails leader Arsenal by four points.

Manchester City moved third, two points behind Chelsea, after defeating Swansea 3-0 with two goals by Samir Nasri. City has won all seven home matches this season.

Liverpool's title hopes stumbled as Hull beat the Reds 3-1 - its first win in 17 attempts - and Manchester United was held to a 2-2 draw at Tottenham.
