Nike will continue to supply jerseys for the likes of Landon Donovan and U.S. Soccer athletes until 2022 after Friday's sponsorship renewal.

CHICAGO (AP) - The U.S. Soccer Federation has renewed its agreement with Nike for nine years through 2022.

Nike has been the equipment supplier for the federation's men's and women's teams since January 1995. Adidas had been the supplier for the previous 22 years.

"Nike has been an outstanding partner and shares our long-term vision for progress, innovation and player development," U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati said in a federation statement. "We have enjoyed a tremendous history together that began as we both looked to elevate soccer in this country to new heights, and we look forward to building on our progress."

The U.S. men's team is preparing for its seventh straight World Cup appearance. The women have won three straight Olympic gold medals.

The new deal was announced Friday.
