On Dec. 20, John W. Henry, Liverpool's principal owner, offered Suárez an improved contract, which made him the highest paid player in Liverpool's history. The English outside Liverpool fear Suárez because he is gifted and committed. But many also loathe him, because they regard him as a dishonest, violent player and, worse still, a racist.
Luis Suarez received a 10-game ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic last July. It was the second biting incident of his career.
