FA charges Jose Mourinho with improper conduct
LONDON (AP) - The English Football Association has charged Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho with improper conduct for going onto the pitch and approaching the referee during his team's 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The incident occurred in the final stages of the match at Villa Park on Saturday.
Mourinho was upset after his midfielder, Ramires, was sent off, the Brazilian becoming the second Chelsea player to receive a red card in the game after Willian.
Mourinho was ordered from the touchline by referee Chris Foy.
The FA says in a statement on Wednesday that Mourinho's ''behavior in re-entering the field of play and ... approaching the match referee amounted to improper conduct.''
Mourinho has until Monday to respond to the charge.
