Genoa finished 14th in Serie A last season. The team's leading scorer was Alberto Gilardino, who finished the season with 15 goals. They were led in assists by Francesco Matuzalem, who finished with four. 

This offseason Genoa lost 14 players to transfer, including Gilardino and Matuzalem. But the club added 15 new players, including Diego Palenta and Alessandro Matri.
