Costa Rica men's national team
After making the 2014 FIFA World Cup by finishing second in CONCACAF qualifying, Costa Rica topped powers England, Uruguay and Italy to win Group D. The team advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Cup before falling to the Netherlands.
Led by Golden Glove finalist Keylor Navas, Costa Rica has become a difficult team to score on. While Navas keys the team's defending, 22-year-old Joel Campbell, one of the most promising young players in Brazil, helps pace Los Ticos' attack.
Costa Rica now turns its attention to the 2014 Copa Centroamericana, which will be played on U.S. soil for the first time. The tournament will run from Sept. 3 to Sept. 13 and provide berths to the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2016 Copa América Centenario for the top finishers.
The team, though, will have to adjust to a new coach after Jorge Luis Pinto and the country's soccer federation couldn't reach an agreement on a new contract.
