Allen provided the finish from Christian Benteke's nod-down to put a heavily rotated Liverpool side ahead in the 35th minute.

Firmino came off the bench to settle the game for Liverpool, with his 76th-minute shot squirming past goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.

Liverpool stayed in eighth place and with a top-four finish beyond the Reds, they are putting most of their focus on their Europa League final against Sevilla on May 18.

Watford has two games left and is free from relegation danger.
