Clint Dempsey is officially heading back to Craven Cottage.
The Seattle Sounders announced Dempsey will be loaned to Fulham for two months once the winter transfer window opens in England on Jan. 1. Dempsey will return to the club where he enjoyed the majority of his club success as a player, scoring 23 goals in all competitions in his final season with Fulham before departing for Tottenham.
While at Fulham, Dempsey will have a loaded slate of competition. Among the games for which the U.S. men's national team captain will be eligible are a battle against Jozy Altidore's Sunderland (Jan. 11); and clashes against Arsenal (Jan. 18), Manchester United (Feb. 9) and Liverpool (Feb. 12). He will, however, miss out on the USA's January camp and subsequent friendly against South Korea on Feb. 1.
Dempsey gave an interview with Fulham's official video channel about his return, which includes him touching on his unceremonious exit following the 2011-12 season and concluding with a "yee-haw!" (really). Watch it below:
