It's been a slow start to the season for the reigning Major League Soccer MVP, as Mike Magee had scored only one goal heading into the Chicago Fire's seventh game of the year on Saturday. Against unbeaten Real Salt Lake, Magee scored his second of the year to put his team up, 1-0, in the first half.

After Nick Rimando, another U.S. hopeful, clawed away a shot from Harrison Shipp in the bottom right-hand corner of the goal, Magee pounced on the rebound and put it back easily. It wasn't the most stunning strike from Magee, who missed the first two games of the year with a hamstring injury and missed a penalty kick against the Philadelphia Union on April 5, but it could be what he needed to start gaining momentum before camp.

Is it too little, too late, with Chris Wondolowski continuing to score for the San Jose Earthquakes, the good season-long form of Aron Jóhannsson in the Netherlands and Juan Agudelo showing well for FC Utrecht? Magee will find out in the next couple weeks when U.S. training kicks off in California.
