Wahl's ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: Calling on Klinsmann, Lloyd, Alonso
Last Saturday morning, I was just waking up with some coffee before the Manchester United-Swansea game when I checked my Twitter and did a spit take. My friend Stephanie Gonzalez, who works for the Houston Dynamo, nominated me for the ALS ice bucket challenge, the phenomenon that has raised a remarkable $31.5 million for ALS research since July 29.
A few other challenges came in too, including from Matt Pavlich, Ethan King, SI’s own Liviu Bird and a special one from Stephen Finger. Steve is a former Princeton soccer player who’s battling ALS, and former U.S. and Princeton coach Bob Bradley honored Steve with his own ice bucket challenge a couple days ago.
So for my challenge we decided to have some fun at SI Video. Huge thanks to Lee Feiner and Dave Seperson for their help, and please consider donating like I did to help ALS research at ALSA.org. (Another terrific place to donate would be Doctors Without Borders, which is doing tremendous work to fight the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.)
Now it’s your turn, Jurgen Klinsmann, Carli Lloyd and Xabi Alonso!
