Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis called Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel "a midget" in a radio interview with Cincinnati's WLW on Monday.
Lewis was asked if Cleveland's quarterback controversy will impact how he and his staff prepare for Sunday's game.
"You got to go defend the offense," Lewis said. "You don't defend the player, particularly a midget."
Manziel, who is listed at six feet tall on the Browns' roster, could start Sunday against the Bengals. Head coach Mike Pettine has yet to announce whether Manziel or veteran Brian Hoyer, who has started each of Cleveland's 13 games this season, will get the nod.
Hoyer was named the starter after training camp and kept a firm grip on the job until Pettine announced prior to Week 14 that he would reconsider the situation before ultimately deciding to stick with Hoyer.
Hoyer completed 14 of 31 passes for 140 yards with two interceptions in last Sunday's loss to the Colts.
