After her first-round U.S. Open win over 12th seed Dominika Cibulkova on Tuesday, CiCi Bellis gained nearly 1,000 times the amount of new followers she usually gets in a day. 

The youngest American woman to win a U.S. Open match in 28 years gained more than 1,500 followers Tuesday, representing a 958-fold increase over her usual single-day follower gain and roughly tripling her previous total. Bellis has netted more than 12,000 mentions of her handle (@cicibellis99) since 10:00 a.m. EST Tuesday, according to data provided by Twitter.

Bellis, 15, is the youngest player to win a U.S. Open match since Anna Kournikova did so in 1996, and the youngest American to win since Mary Joe Fernandez did so in 1986. Her match Tuesday wasn't scheduled to be televised, but once she won her first set over Australian Open finalist Cibulkova, ESPN aired the remainder of the match. 

Bellis' ranking is expected to jump by hundreds of spots because Tuesday's victory. She will take on the world's 48th-ranked player, Kazakhstan's Zarina Diyas, in the tournament's second round.
