Matches to watch:

Gael Monfils (20) vs. Roger Federer (2)

Federer has lost just one set in his four matches in this year's tournament. On Monday, Federer beat Roberto Bautista Agut to advance to the quarterfinals. He previously beat Marcel Granollers (third round), Sam Groth (second round), and Marinko Matosevic (first round). At last year's U.S. Open, Federer lost to 19th-seeded Tommy Rebredo in the Round of 16.

In his last two U.S. Open matches, Monfils has beat No. 7 ranked Grigor Dimitrov, and No. 12 seed Richard Gasquet. This is the first time Monfils has reached the U.S. Open quarterfinals since 2010.

At the Western & Southern Open last month, Monfils took Federer to three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-3). Last year, Monfils beat Federer at the Shanghai Masters, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3.

Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan (1) vs. Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram

The Bryan brothers have not won a Grand Slam tournament this year. Their best finish in 2014 was at Wimbledon, when the pair lost to Jack Sock and Canadian Vasek Pospisil in the final. The last Grand Slam the brother won was Wimbledon in 2013.

If the Bryan brothers win the U.S. Open men's doubles title, it will be their 100th overall title together and their 5th U.S. Open doubles title.
