'Lady Gaga of tennis' steals spotlight (again)
Bethanie Mattek-Sands is no stranger to bold fashion statements.
The self-proclaimed "Lady Gaga of tennis," who is seeded at a Grand Slam for the first time in her career at No. 31, grabbed eyeballs (and headlines) by commissioning one of the pop megastar's designers to create her flamboyant tennis-inspired gown for the pre-Wimbledon party.
And then, prior to Wednesday's second-round match against Japan's Misaki Doi, the 26-year-old American walked out to Court 14 wearing this jacket. (According to the AP's Caroline Cheese, Mattek-Sands needed to reassure the referee she wasn't going to wear it on court.)
