The ATP season has barely been tucked into bed, but I can't be the only one who already misses it. It's amazing to think that these men will be back on the practice courts preparing for 2012 in a matter of days.

So before we close the book on the year, here's a look back on the World Tour Finals, which started out with a daily chorus of "WTF???" and ended with an "Ah ... that's about right."

How does that saying go? Beauty is in the eye of the trophy holder? Sure, let's go with that. After all, Federer's run through the post-U.S. Open swing sure was a thing a beauty.

"Aw, shucks. It was an honor to be beaten by you, Roger. Let's do it again sometime."

I've said it time and time again. The man loves a stage, and there was no better one to show off his enthusiasm than under the bright lights of the O2 Arena. Let 'er rip, Jo.

Huge congrats to Daniel Nestor, one of four Serbian-born players to compete in London. A mind-boggling feat for such a small country. He and partner Max "The Beast" Mirnyi captured the doubles crown, which happened to be Nestor's 75th doubles title. Yup, you read that right. Incredible.

Where there's a spotlight, there's Pippa.

The first alternate showed a lot of heart this week, stepping in for an injured Andy Murray. I can't even begin to fathom the math that would have been involved in determining who qualified for the semifinals had he converted that match point against Tomas Berdych.

It was sad to see such an incredible year end on a bit of a downer. So let's remember the good times. You know, the times that saw this skinny kid win 43 straight matches over six months. Yeah, those times.

When much has been given, much is expected. It says a lot about a player when they're able to capture a Grand Slam title and the year is described as "disappointing."  Chin up, Rafa. You'll figure it out.

Good thing there were no inflatable beach balls flying through the London crowd. That hair-gelled head-piece is a death trap for poppable aircrafts.

WTF personified.

*****It's been fun, London. See you next year.
