2012 BTB Awards: Viral sensations

The BTB Awards are our look back at the best — and worst — of the tennis season. Today we go underground to dig up the biggest viral videos of the year. It's the attack of the Internet.

[2012 IN REVIEW: Report Card | Surprises | Meltdowns | Shots | Majors | Quotes | Photos]

1. Marcos Baghdatis' racket-breaking opus: The mainstream loves a good racket tantrum.

*****

2. Laura Robson and Genie Bouchard rock some Gangnam Style: A couple of up-and-coming WTA youngsters getting in on one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons of the year? Sure, big enough. But the fact that they were able to get Maria Sharapova, Sam Stosur, Fernando Verdasco and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga involved is what made the video.

*****

3. Australian Open ballboy shows off his skills: Best ballkid move of the year.

*****

4. Caroline Wozniacki's prank fail: An unfortunate summary of Wozniacki's year.

*****

5. Serena Williams' Crip Walk: Celebratory and controversial, Serena's post-Olympic celebration definitely got people talking. The thing is, I'm not sure most of the people complaining about the dance even knew what it was before she did it.

*****

6. Richard Gasquet and Grigor Dimitrov get physical: Between Gasquet's vomitous response and Dimitrov's full-body seizure, this rally showed the world just how physical tennis has become.

*****

7. Roger Federer yells "Shut Up":  Federer fans aren't kidding when they unfurl the "Shhhh! Genius at Work" signs at his matches. It wasn't the first time he's told someone to be quiet, and it probably won't be the last.

*****

8. Novak Djokovic entertains a marriage proposal: Regardless of whether this was real or staged, Djokovic's good humor won him some points. And publicity.

*****

9. Rory McIlroy wins a point off Maria Sharapova: During an exhibition between Sharapova and Wozniacki, golf's No. 1 took the court and actually won a point, leading Sharapova to quip, "He won more points than Caroline did." Zing!

*****

10. Sean Connery is impressed: 007's pro-Andy Murray fist pump at the U.S. Open was perfect.
