Andy Murray gives 'thumbs up' after back surgery
Andy Murray was all thumbs after going under the knife for surgery on his back on Monday. The Wimbledon champion, who announced last week he would skip the ATP's Asian swing to address the back problems that forced him to skip the French Open earlier this year, still has his sense of humor intact. Shortly after tweeting the above picture from the hospital, Murray tweeted:
Next up for Murray is some rest and rehabilitation as he tries to get back to top fitness in time for the Australian Open in January. While he hasn't ruled out his participation in the ATP's World Tour Finals in November, it would be a risk for Murray to get back on courts -- hard courts no less -- to compete against the top seven men in the world at the year-end championships. Instead, the physical and mental break from yet another strong season, which saw him make the Australian Open final and win Wimbledon this summer is much needed. And if we've learned anything this year it's that an extended break from the tour can set you up for a dominant season. Just like Rafael Nadal.
In the meantime, enjoy your quality PS3 time, Andy!
