The best part of a new year is the hope and optimism that sets in when we get to wipe the slate clean and start fresh. With that in mind, Beyond the Baseline checked in with a few ATP and WTA players to find out what their 2014 New Year's resolutions are. Whether it's resolving to be a better person or quitting those bad habits, tennis players aren't all that different from the rest of us.
And just like Ryan Harrison, don't we all want to just give up losing?
John Isner: My New Year's resolution is to never get frustrated at any situation in 2014.
Stanislas Wawrinka: I’m so happy with my year 2013 and I hope that 2014 will be as exciting as this year. I’m very motivated going into this season, and hope that I can do well again, win another title and go deep at the Masters 1000s, the Grand Slams and play well at my home events and in Davis Cup. Of course the most important thing is to remain healthy, and that’s also my main wish for me and my loved ones.
Tommy Haas: My New Year’s resolution is to be more tolerant (laughs).
Ana Ivanovic: I resolve to laugh a lot, love what I do and enjoy moments with friends and family.
Marin Cilic: I would like to be less stressed, I hope to enjoy tennis every single day whether I had a good or bad day and I would like to be more involved with charity work by helping people with different needs -- especially kids -- to be happier.
Ryan Harrison: My New Year’s resolution will probably be to eat very healthy and give up losing (laughs).

Angelique Kerber: I just want to carry on enjoying my time traveling and playing tennis. We are lucky to live this life and have a chance to live our passion so enjoying it every day in every match will be my resolution. You never know how long it will last.
Fernando Verdasco: My new year resolution, like every year, is to try to be a better person, help the people in need whenever I can and love, care and spend more time with the people I love.
Alexander Peya: In the New Year, I want to cut down on sweets, especially chocolate since I am a big chocolate guy.
Monica Puig: My New Year’s resolution is to take each day one day at a time and to enjoy every moment of what I do. I want to enjoy all the wonderful moments that we get to experience as tennis players, and see some of the beautiful places we visit throughout the year, and take advantage of every opportunity that will come my way.
Donna Vekic: I will give up chocolate totally. 100%. Completely. Honestly...
Vasek Pospisil: My resolution is to start wearing sunscreen.
Bruno Soares: My New Year's resolution is to think about my goals for next year and try to visualize them, I believe a lot in positive thinking.
Kevin Anderson: My New Year's resolution is to play a couple songs on stage somewhere with my new acoustic guitar.
Radek Stepanek: My New Year's resolution is be healthy and stay out of the trouble (laughs).
Kei Nishikori: My resolution is to well in the Grand Slams and see if I can get into the top 10.
Andrea Hlavackova: I already started with them now, I resolved to start every day with a smile on my face and have positive attitude towards anything that comes at me, because attitude changes everything!
I resolve to be healthy, to feel good and have harmony on court with my tennis and myself, and to win, win and win!
