10.28 MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY
2011 RECAP TONY STEWART, who led only 14 laps, won his third race of the Chase by overtaking Jimmie Johnson on a restart with three laps remaining.
TRACK FACT This race will be the 128th Cup event here, more than at any other track in the top circuit's history besides Daytona. There have been at least two races at Martinsville since 1950.
EYE ON 2012 Pit stops are more vital here than at any other track because pit road is so tightly compacted. Last fall Johnson spent less time on pit road than anyone.
WALTRIP "So many guys lose their cool here. I was embarrassed by the racing last fall. You couldn't even say, That's racin'. All I could say was, That's wreckin'."
10.7 TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY
2011 RECAP On the final lap CLINT BOWYER passed teammate Jeff Burton to win by .018 of a second, taking the checkered flag in this race for the second straight year.
TRACK FACT Though Bowyer lost the spring race by .002 of a second, his fall victory at Talladega earned Richard Childress his 100th win as an owner.
EYE ON 2012 Crucial to winning the title is avoiding the Big One at Talladega, which every championship winner in the Chase era has been able to do.
