MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Lindsay Whalen and Seimone Augustus scored 12 points each and the Minnesota Lynx held off a late charge to beat the Indiana Fever 74-71 on Friday night in a rematch of last season's WNBA Finals.
Whalen had 10 points in the first five minutes and the Lynx (5-0) outscored the Fever 29-6 in the first quarter. Minnesota had its largest lead of 24 early in the second half, but the Fever (2-2) rallied within 73-70 with 33 seconds left in the game.
The Lynx were still up by three when they sent Tiffany Mitchell to the foul line with 3.5 seconds left. Mitchell made the first and missed the second intentionally, but the rebound went out of bounds off Indiana.
Augustus made 1 of 2 foul shots with 0.7 seconds and the Fever failed to take a final shot before the buzzer.
Natasha Howard added 11 points and Maya Moore had nine points and eight assists.
Mitchell had 16 points for the Fever. Erica Wheeler added 13 points and Maggie Lucas scored 12 before suffering a bruised knee.
STARS 79, SKY 78
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Haley Peters scored all of her 16 points in the fourth quarter to help the Stars rally from a 15-point deficit and beat the Sky.
Monique Curry made three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points, while Kayla Alexander and Kayla McBride scored 10 apiece for San Antonio.
Peters converted a three-point play to tie it with 1:28 remaining and then hit a 3-pointer 40 seconds later that gave the Stars (1-3) their first lead, 79-76, since the opening minutes.
Allie Quigley's jumper with 36 seconds left cut Chicago's deficit to one, but the Sky (1-4) missed their final two shots.
Elena Delle Donne scored 27 and grabbed nine rebounds before fouling out with 1:28 to play for Chicago.
DREAM 102, WINGS 93
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Angel McCoughtry had 26 points and nine rebounds on Friday night, and the Dream pulled away late to beat the Wings.
The Dream (4-1) took a 94-88 lead with an 8-1 run capped by Sancho Lyttle's free throws with 1:35 left. Odyssey Sims cut the Wings' deficit to three with a three-point play nine seconds later, but Dallas (3-2) went scoreless from there and Atlanta closed with eight straight points.
Lyttle finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and six steals. Layshia Clarendon scored 19, Tiffany Hayes added 15, Elizabeth Williams 13 and Carla Cortijo 10.
Plenette Pierson and Aerial Powers had 16 points each for Dallas.
