The NCAA women’s tournament is slated to start Friday, as the field of 64 teams begins the quest for the 2016 national title.
Three-time defending national champion and No. 1 overall seed UConn is on the cusp of history. The Huskies, who have won 116 of their last 117 contests, seek an unprecedented fourth consecutive title this year. They are led by senior All-America forward Breanna Stewart, who is averaging 19.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.1 blocks this season and is the three-time reigning Final Four Most Outstanding Player.
Other No. 1 seeds in the tournament include SEC champion South Carolina, ACC champion Notre Dame and Big 12 champion Baylor.
