Jordan Brand bringing MJ's famous "Breakfast Club" to the digital age

The workout that helped Michael Jordan win six Finals MVP awards has inspired a new training platform from Jordan Brand.

Prior to helping the Bulls build their 1990s dynasty, Michael Jordan encountered a metaphorical wall he couldn’t breakthrough. After three years in a row (1988–90) of being eliminated in the NBA playoffs by the “Bad Boys” Pistons, Jordan sparked “The Breakfast Club,” a morning training regime that included pre-practice and one-on-one workouts with his trainer, focused on strength training and weights. From there his Bulls teammates were inspired by the idea and decided to join in the sessions, which often started as early as 7 a.m. Jordan would famously arrive to the gym with a smile and a cup of coffee in hand—and the “The Breakfast Club” was born. The training regime was the foundation for Jordan’s six NBA championships.

“Breakfast Club was a mindset more than a workout,” Jordan said in a statement. “We wanted to be more prepared than anyone else.”

Now 27 years later, the Jordan Brand has launched The Jordan Breakfast Club Training Experience—named after MJ’s notorious early morning workout sessions. The interactive sessions is built around a 30-day program designed by Jordan master trainer, Alex Molden.

After subscribing to the program digitally, athletes will have the opportunity to begin training immediately using the drills and techniques introduced by a collection of Jordan Brand athletes, such as Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, track star Erik Kynard and Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey. These digital sessions, which will be delivered directly to the athlete through a Jordan Chatbox, are geared toward athletes of all levels.

“Michael is the blueprint for greatness,” Larry Miller, president of Jordan Brand, said in a statement. “We are excited to be able to share some of these insights and training tips with kids who are striving to reach their own greatness.”
