The Braves have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Julio Teheran on a six-year contract, the team announced Friday. Financial terms were not released, but Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports the new contract that runs through the 2019 season with an option for 2020 is worth $32.4 million.

Teheran, 22, finished fourth in NL Rookie of the Year voting after posting a 14-8 record with a 3.20 ERA, 170 strikeouts and 45 walks in 185.2 innings last season. He also led MLB rookies in walks per nine innings (2.18) and ranked second in wins and strikeouts, third in opponents' batting average (.246) and fourth in ERA.

"We are excited to sign Julio to a long-term contract," Braves Executive Vice President and General Manager Frank Wren said. "He is one of the best young pitchers in the National League and one of our core of players we expect to be together for a number of years."
