Mitroglou keeps place in Greece's World Cup squad

VOULIAGMENI, Greece (AP) Greece striker Kostas Mitroglou has kept his place in the country's World Cup Squad despite three forwards being dropped from the preliminary lineup.

Greece faces Colombia, Japan and Ivory Coast in Group C.

Greece coach Fernando Santos says he believes the 26-year-old Mitroglou will be ready for Brazil despite his lack of game time since moving to England at the start of the year to join now-relegated Premier League side Fulham.

Also, defenders Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Dimitris Siovas failed to make the squad due to persistent injury troubles.

Santos says training will start later Monday, adding that he has identified ''strengths and weaknesses'' in all three group opponents.
