The Denver Broncos setting new NFL records in 2013 for points (606), touchdowns (76), passing first downs (293), second-half points (318) and players with 10 or more touchdowns (five: Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Wes Welker, Julius Thomas, Knowshon Moreno).
Peyton Manning also set a new mark for passing yards (5,477) and touchdown passes (55) en route to league MVP honors. After a 13-3 regular season and wins over San Diego and New England in the AFC playoffs, however, the Broncos lost to the Seattle Seahawks 43-8 in the Super Bowl.
Moreno is now in Miami and Decker is with the New York Jets, but the Broncos have brought in wide receivers Emmanuel Sanders and Andre Caldwell. Denver also acquired DeMarcus Ware and T.J. Ward to its defense.
The Broncos will be short-handed in the opening weeks of the NFL season due to kicker Matt Prater's four-game suspension for violating the substance abuse policy. Welker is also facing a suspension for a drug policy violation.
Denver opens its 2014 season on Sunday Night Football against the Indianapolis Colts.
