COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) Ryan Lochte, Natalie Coughlin, Matt Grevers and Tyler Clary lead the U.S. roster for the short course world championships on Dec. 3-7 in Doha, Qatar.

The 37-member team announced Thursday by USA Swimming doesn't include 18-time Olympic champion Michael Phelps, who hasn't competed in a 25-meter short course meet since the 2004 worlds in Indianapolis.

Among the other U.S. team members are Conor Dwyer, Cullen Jones, Jimmy Feigen, Caitlin Leverenz, Breeja Larson, Matt McLean, Nick Thoman, Shannon Vreeland and Claire Donahue.

Lochte is expected to swim in a team-high six individual events, while Clary is set for five individual races.

On the women's side, Elizabeth Beisel and Melanie Margalis are scheduled to swim four individual events each.

Former Olympians Katie Hoff and Amanda Weir will represent the U.S. overseas for the first time since the 2011 world championships and 2012 London Olympics, respectively.

Darian Townsend, a three Olympian for South Africa, will compete for the U.S. for the first time overseas since becoming a citizen earlier this year.
