Scheidt to defend Star Sailors League title

NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) Two-time Olympic gold medalist Robert Scheidt of Brazil returns to defend his title in the Star Sailors League Finals, which will be sailed this week at the Nassau Yacht Club.

Other star skippers in the 20-boat fleet include Torben Grael of Brazil, whose five Olympic medals include two golds; Freddy Loof of Sweden, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist; 2014 Star world champion Robert Stanjek of Germany; Mateusz Kusznierewicz of Poland and Xavier Rohart of France.

Americans in the fleet include Augie Diaz, George Szabo and Mark Mendelblatt.

There is an average of one Olympic medal per boat.

Racing will be held Wednesday through Saturday, with Sunday as a reserve day. Racing will be streamed live in HD.

Prize money of $200,000 will be divided among the entire fleet.
